Did anyone notice...?

It was just to show that the boy was taking numbers, that's all. That the number in question was from the USA had no relevance. Maybe it was an attempt at a red herring. It was a bit ham fisted really because it obviously had some significance re later events - otherwise why show it? Of course he then took Hyde's number and crash went the whole heist. Was Hyde really that careless, using his own car without false number plates!? And after all the meticulous planning that preceded it? Difficult to believe.
