Minor Error

Since it happens early in the movie I am not putting in a spoiler warning. But when Kirk Douglas first leaves to go to Gun Hill it shows the train at night going toward a bend with old telegraph polls and some wagon tracks by the railroad tracks. Then Kirk Douglas has a conversation with Carolyn Jones on the train and then it switches to the daytime as the train nears Gun Hill it shows the same scene with the same wagon tracks and old telegraph polls. Yet they had no doubt passed that same way again. Just a minor goof that I happened to notice and in no way ruins the movie.

IMDB has now added it to the Goofs list so they can eliminate this post. Well done IMDB for making the addition.

That set of tracks has been seen in many movies (two that come to mind are The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and Alias Jesse James), and in most such cases the same stretch was shown more than once, supposedly indicating different places. Sort of a recurrent goof.

I don't think IMDb deserves any great credit for adding this to their goof section. They only put in what readers send, and very often the goofs (or trivia) they post are inaccurate -- they don't bother to check the submissions and only correct or delete the wrong ones when another user submits a correction. (They also frequently include two or more submissions about the same goof, meaning they don't even bother to check whether the goof has already been included. And of course they never correct for grammar or spelling, or other facts.)

This is a valid goof, but the fact that they have now included it doesn't mean much of anything. IMDb is pretty indiscriminate about what they post.
