Made in Cuba --just before the Castros

According to TCM host Robert Osborne in his comments before the 12-30-2014 showing of this movie, it was made in Cuba--standing in for Florida. Apparently part of the reason it's not shown often is that the new Castro Cuban government had some sort of partial hold on the rights. (Perhaps someone will come along and post more details, and/or corrected details).

The cinematography certainly casts the Cuban coastal area where this was filmed in a lovely light.

Yep - on the passing truck early in the film there's some writing in Spanish on the door, most of which is taped over, but "Vedado" (neighborhood in Havana) is visible.

That truck is probably still in service. (!)
