Where can I get a copy of The Journey or watch it?

Hi!

I am a new Yul Brynner fan. Sigh! I wish he was still around. I would very much like to see this film, but I know it was never released on VHS or DVD. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Patty

You can't get it anywhere. Turner Network owns it. I don’t know why they won’t release it to DVD before all of us who appreciate Yul are dead and gone too. They occasionally show it uninterrupted on TCM ( Turner Classic Movies) Channel. They do have a schedule of when it will be showing and the only thing you can do is sit there and tape it. It is one of those movies where the action starts before the credits and ends after the ending credits so it doesn’t work well by just setting the machine you will miss some of the movie.

I am a HUGE Yul Brynner fan. I happen to catch this movie on TCM one day. I was looking for it on VHS or DVD as well. I checked Amazon and other sites and so far, it hasn't been released in either format yet. It's a shame..it's one of Brynner's best performances.

I taped it the other day from TCM and like always, thrilled after watching a Yul Brynner performance. What a marvelous man! Not only did Deborah and Yul have great on screen chemistry in "The King and I" but also on this film. You could feel each character's emotions from start to finish. Superb acting from everyone.

Yes, it was on TCM Thursday night. I taped it again. I taped it before but the quality of the tape wasn't too good.

This is a great movie. I hope Turner releases it on DVD soon. Perhps if and when they have a Deborah Kerr retrospective. :-)

I'm watching it right now! It's better than I thought it would be. VERY powerful performance by Yul Brynner. Great cast of background characters and of course, the ever lovely and talented Deborah Kerr. Wow. Taped off of TCM, the image quality is very good. Just keep an eye out. They WILL show it again.

I too wish I could have a copy. I have only seen this film once 30 years ago, but it never let me go. So much rubbish is produced and put onto DVD every day, but the film moguls enjoy their power of raising a film out of obscurity or letting it fall into a deep well just for the sake of being obnoxious, and in those cases where there are simply not enough people to pressurize them (as was successfully done with the Everwood series) to bow to public pressure, all we can do is hope that somebody is able to record it and willing to distribute it. May I put my name on the list of those who would greatly appreciate a copy?

I don't get TurnerMovie Classics. I will buy a copy from anybody out there
I have been looking for this movie for years Most of the Movie List books you buy don't even have The Journey listed. I thought maybe they had changed the name or I had imagined the whole ting in my head

Piamia55 - I don't need the film but I am trying to get a recording of the cadence that the Russian Soldiers chant as they march. Any chance of an mp3? If there is I'll leave my e-address. Thanks.

It is currently not available on DVD. You can vote for this title to be released on Turner Classic Movies website: www.tcm.com. Other good movies to vote for are Surprise package (1960), The Sound and The Fury(1959) and Brothers Karamazov (1958) all starring Yul Brynner! Simply search their database and when you find the title click the link to vote. It is easy, fast and it works!
