Hard to believe its been that long since this Classic had been released;
-For years i rated this my all-time movie fave !
-it holds up beautifully after all these yrs.
-the music is unsurpassed !
-the f \ x still possess a charm all its own
-its still very much imaginary
-what a superb cast !
-the locales work
-the humor is wonderfully integrated(Dahl + Mason)
-Thayer is a darn good villain: quite wily
-the remakes prove how good this version is-superior
-etc.etc.etc
While the DVD looks great what we NEED is a blueray version with commentary by the actors.
shareWell, a sequel is being planned for that dreadful recent version -- which somehow made a lot of money -- so hopefully Fox has a Blu-ray edition in the pipeline right now.

...we certainly require extras:commentaries(Dahl,Boone,Baker,etc.)for example.
This is a classic and ought to be treated as such ! Biggest box-office hit of '59 for instance.
Its never been equaled although many attempts have been made in the last half century or so....
