I've seen both versions and I have to say ...

I liked this much better!

I don't worship the ground you walk on.

If you're referring to the 2008 Brendan Frasier version -- oh my YES!
I even bough this on videotape (and will eventually get it on DVD)!

This one's for all ages. The other one is for children and idiots.

myself i just heard the bbc radio dramatization, haven't seen any of the feature length movies but i liked brendan fraser in "bedazzled" (2000), one of my favorite 21st century movies. something as visual like this i'm not sure how it suits for radio, though i was totally blown away by the radio dramatization of "the time machine" released by big finish productions. the shouting and screaming in this (radio version) is hard on the ear, and right off this starts off with narrating mixed with acting, mixing like that don't work for me, "twilight zone radio dramas" only narrates in the beginning and at the end. the sound effects were great though, also a great surprise one of the roles spoke swedish, and as a swede the last name of carla gets to me, on the radio theatre it was a dude speaking swedish though.

just about the dark midnight,
came fair sunshine,
rocketed to space stars high,
unknown worlds you show my bumpkin mind,
before fair darlin sent me to home ground.
