I swear when i was young and watched this film there was a giant white snake that attacked the asbestos pot they were in before the lava blew them safely to the surface but in the dvd version i just brought there was no such scene......all it showed was the giant lizard
Has that scene with the white snake been deleted or did i just imagine it?
you imagined it. there was never any scene involving a giant white snake. were you thinking of the giant chameleon-like lizard that was covered with lava?

I watched this movie as a kid almost twenty years ago, and was so excited to watch it again. Back then, it seemed to me that the expedition and their adventures lasted a little bit longer and I was pretty sure that there was a scene where they are escaping by climbing the ropes from some kind of savage tribe!
Still - I remembered Gertrude, giant lizards (not the snake though, sorry), Atlantis... Anyway - a very good movie.
P.S. In that scene with lava eruption, before they even light the fuse to break their way out, Alex (Boone) steps with his bare foot on top of fat skin with WHITE spots which could be assumed to be a giant snake, but later turns out to be a giant chameleon who turns red later.
Maybe that's what you saw as a kid. Or maybe you listened to Whitesnake while watching the movie ;)
I know what you're talking about. Maybe newer editions of the film have been edited, but I watched this religiously as a kid, and it always drove me crazy that there was a moment, just before the lizard got covered with lava, that it was white. I hope this is helpful
