Num Yum

Anyone pick up on the "Num Yum" Corporation (candy). Remember when Peter kept saying "birdie num num" in The Party? A coincidence? Maybe not...

I dunno -- We've been giving our beagle "doggie num-nums" and our birds "birdie nums" for a long time, but this is the first time I've seen the movie. I think it's just a standard baby-talk thing.

But as long as we're on the subject of Num Yum:

At the Num Yum factory, the payoff was obvious from the first time the "tour guide" demonstrated the machine that puked out the basic mix, but who cares? It's watching Ian Carmichael's process of getting there that's so hilarious. Great build-up and staging of the payoff. Perfectly British. An American version would probably just be gross.

Agreed. A great visual gag that films today rarely take the time to do.

I remember my mother using num-num to describe something that is delicious. I think num-num came first, and the fictitious brand name Num-Yum is derived from that. There is a possibility that it could be Irish.
