Balanced and Fair Movie

As I have mentioned on other threads one of the main reasons I enjoy this movie so much is that presents a balanced and fair presentation of both sides during the War Between the States (WBTS), unlike most politically correct movies made in the past thirty years (with very few notable exceptions). It shows both the good and bad points of the North and South during the war. Just a few examples would be-

Good: North Refusing to fire on the young cadets, turning over the deserters, risking capture to take care of wounded men, burning only war supplies at Newton Station and not the town, plus many others. South Many displays of bravery and chivalry, especially during the charge at Newton Station and the charge of the young Jefferson Military Academy cadets, fighting in the face of overwhelming odds, plus many others. I won't list the bad shown of each side, though it is luckily far less than in most modern "PC" films.

It is one of the most enjoyable and best WBTS movies ever made (despite a few historical inaccuracies, which is why it is of course considered a work of fiction and not a documentary). I would enjoy reading what others think of this.

P.S. I use the term War Between the States because Civil War is an inaccurate term, as it describes a conflict in which one side is trying to take over the same country from another side. Whatever your interpretation of the reasons behind the war, the war was obviously fought between one side trying to secede and leave to form it's own country and the other side attempting to stop that. Other accurate terms would be (from a Southern viewpoint) The War for Southern Independence, War of Northern Aggression, War for the Southern Confederacy or (from a Northern viewpoint) War of the Rebellion and War of the Insurrection. I choose to use War Between the States because it is a neutral term and shouldn't provoke an argument separate from whatever I'm actually discussing... hopefully😉.

I agree .. it was fair ... Sadly , most movies do everything possible to make the South look as bad as they can .. Neither wanted that war .
