Why was he expelled?

I suspect because George got her pregnant. This is never stated (like the gay elements) but you can guess it from the point where Gino says something along the lines of "I'm her brother, and I never blamed you". This explains the awkwardness between the the two of them as well. I felt he'd gotten her pregnant, the two of them had gotten in trouble and expelled, and he'd either abandoned her or been forced to do so. Of course, what happened to the child? Adoption I suppose, given the time.

Just saw this last night. Tight little film that made me wonder how closely it stuck to the facts (given this and the homosexual relationship that's implied between the two robbers). Certainly worth more than the 50 cents I paid for it on a discount table! It was wonderful to see the actual places/people too.
