... where the bridge of boats was?

I have a copy with English subtitles that bleed into the white badly so you can't read a lot of it. I didn't get whether Orseste was being honest at the end, or was doing the "mama mia!" routine for sympathy. I didn't see any reason why one of them would know and the other wouldn't, so I figured he just wasn't willing to tell after they killed his buddybut he wasn't the heroic take to make a stand.

My copy also seems to be missing a few seconds here and there. I seem to remember them actually showing the duo taking the Austrian jackets and heading out, then getting caught... but in my dubbed English cut, it shows the Austrians taking off their jackets in the barn, and the next scene the two villiachi are being brought in front of the Austrian commander as spies. Can someone confirm what was in the original theatrical cut?

Yes, there is indeed a scene showing them sneaking past the soldiers wearing the uniform, very short though.

As for Orseste, he knew that information for sure (he reports it to the commander on their arrival), but decided to make a sacrifice like his friend. Since the Austrians already saw him as a coward and a traitor, he probably decided to make sure they wouldn't torture him to get the info and just shoot him straight ahead.
