Terrific screenplay and excellent acting


I agree with all the previous comments. It's no Shane, but all the characters were so well integrated and the dialogue was so well written you couldn't lose your attention. And as for Fred MacMurray, his performance was nothing short of exemplary. But he was such a terrific actor it was only to be expected back in the 1950's.

I especially like the way that Fred MacMurray's character inveigles his way into an assumed identity. This movie has a direct plot that doesn't wander for a moment from the fugitive's dilemma.
