The trivia section is interesting and explaines how Hoover had a big influence over this movie and personelly chose James Stewart the same with the TV series The FBI with Efrem Zimbalist Jr who were great friends.

But the odd thing IMO, considering the movie's title is that there is virtually nothing on the organization's historical origins. The film's kind of awkward position is that everything virtually began with Hoover. Clint Eastwood did it better with J. Edgar IMO.🐭
