any word on a DVD release ?
Does anyone know if they are going to release this classic on DVD?

shareNo, but they show it fairly often on Turner Classic Movies and I burned myself a copy.
shareTCM does show it a couple of times a year. I almost burned a DVD for myself, but the movie aspect ratio is 1.85:1 and TCM always shows it full-screen. I think I'll hold out for a DVD release.
shareI believe the TCM copy is an open matte print as there is always a generous amount of headroom. I've zoomed in on it to fill the screen and there's no chopping off of heads, nor the credits.
It ain't easy being green, or anything else, other than to be me
I haven't seen or heard anything, but I wish it would be released. Obviously, the bean counters don't see much profit potential in this, they're too busy inflicting sludge like "Meet the Fockers" on the public rather than something intelligent and genuinely funny. I've taped it off one of the old movie channels, but it sure would be nice to see it in widescreen.
shareIt's on TCM right now...

You can see the play performed live in Ontario, at the Niagara-on-the-Lake Shaw Festival, all summer long.
Why is this movie not released on DVD. How could a film ,by such a director and featuring
Laurence Olivier, Kirk Douglas and Kirk Douglas not be considered as a "buried treasure"
In the vaults of MGM or whoever has the rights to this movie. Brynaprod seem to be the
Main copyright holder,so why doesn't someone look at what is a golden chance.
if George Bernard Shaw wrote the original play and it is acted and directed by these people
Who on earth " has rocks in his head".
Some contractor cut the cable in my town today, which is lucky, because I managed to catch this film on our local Antenna TV channel. I really enjoyed it, especially seeing Kirk Douglas at his sassy best. I loved the scene between him and Olivier. Oh and yes, Burt was good too. I'm surprised TCM hasn't released a DVD of this.
shareUnless TCM owns the rights to the movie it's not up to them to release it on dvd. They in all likelihood only own broadcast rights
