Met Contino in 1979

I can't resist an odd post.

I met Dick Contino at a hotel bar in Philadelphia in 1979. I don't recall why he was there but he came in with Pat Cooper, a popular stand-up comedian. I don't remember many details, but I do recall that Contino was a very personable and nice guy to hang out with. Pat Cooper was definitely the 'talker' of the two. We had a couple drinks and chatted for a couple of breaks (I was a musician in the band playing in the club.) My clearest memory of the meeting was Cooper putting forth the notion that to get the publics' attention, you had to "eat the floor." I assume this is the stand-up equivalent to the film version of "chewing the scenery." A funny evening.
