Should Latimer be looking for a new career?

Admittedly Dr Latimer seems to be working in the private sector, where patients take their chances and pay for it, but would you like to fall into the hands of a man so inept and unprofessional?

No wonder everybody thought they could take him for a ride, not only his colleague Dr Kimber and his so-called best friend Palmer but also the so-called journalist Palmer, the so-called film star Frieda and the so-called patient Mrs Ambler. The police think he’s pretty dumb as well.

How did he ever get to a position of influence in his profession? I suppose his fiancée Laura would say that he is an innocent who at heart is good. Perhaps the two of them should think of a career that suits him better?
