Did someone forget to put in the jokes....

This movie was labeled as a romantic comedy by Netflix. But the laughs are few and far between in this one.

Not really sure how to categorize this one. Not even so much a romantic movie as the only really romantic scene is the one where Natalie comes in from the rain (which is cut short by James Garner's rejection of her).

The "business takeover" plot is somewhat confusing and really not all that interesting.

The true stars of this movie are the sets, the high fashion late 50's/early 60's costumes, and the great old autos and planes.

Not to be missed is Nina Foch's scenery chewing when she gets dumped by JG! LOL!

This movie needs pop-up factiods - like what how taxes of those days could affect cash sale vs. stock swap -oh no, I'm boring myself.(Capital Gains ~90%)
Also car and plane identificdation.
And what a 25,000/year salary would be in today dollars (194,100)

The IMDb classifies this one as Drama and Romance. I can understand Netflix's mistake, though. I assumed by the title and the fact that it starred Garner and Wood together that it was a comedy. But I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't. Most comedies from this era seem very dated to me. They rely so much on expired social taboos for their humor.

Seems to me it is not the movie's fault that Netflix labeled it a comedy when it never intended to be one. It's clearly a Drama Romance as specified above.

But don't blame the writers for forgetting to put jokes in.
