Marsha Hunt - Horrible Acting

The story line of Blue Denim was wonderful, but my goodness Marsha Hunt needed a refresher course in acting. It was TERRIBLE. The way she delivered her lines she sounded like a moose with the foot caught in the mud.

That was basically the way all mothers were written for in all tv shows and movies back in the 1950's. Even for throwback shows like Happy Days in the 1970's the mother often got silly lines to say and situations to play. Marsha was getting older, she was blacklisted for several years, if you recall, so she was probably THRILLED to get ANY role in a hit movie at the time. Her forte in her films in the 1940's was comedy so she obviously utilized that interpretation for this role, to make it more palatable to herself.

Are you sure you're not confusing her acting with the role she played?

I was literally screaming at her to be quiet during the toast scene - but that was because her performance was so good.

I had a grandmother like her - they can't see the wood for the trees.
They want a happy loving family where everybody understands each other, so they continually act as if it is happening, even if they are deluding themselves.

Despite her husband's personality towards her, despite the relationship battle between her husband and her son etc., they pretend that everything is all perfect.
