Does everybody know that the miniature submarine used in the movie was a British X-craft sub, like the ones used on the attack on the German battleship Tirpitz? According to one of the experten on my site, it was cut in two to allow the cameras to film the interior shots for the movie. It was then donated to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, where it still resides today!

Almost all the shots of the X craft under way, descending and surfacing were clips taken from "Above Us the Waves" (1955) which told the story of the attack on the Tirpitz.
