Why wouldn't the police headquarters talk about it? *Spoilers*


What do you think it meant when Mr. Davenport said "There's something queer about the killing of Wells, but headquarters won't talk about it"? What was it all supposed to mean?

Yeah I know but headquarters couldn't know that and Anderson wasn't there to take Davenport's call so it doesn't make any sense to me.

Remember that Lt. Anderson (as The Bat) wrote a note and tacked it up on the wall, "Here lies The Bat - Threatened with exposure he destroyed himself." That's what would have made the murder a strange situation.
