The scene of the mother running through the wheat fields...

The scene with the mother running through the wheat fields struck me as something very American. Actually the bond between mother and child is very universal but this was evocative of a Norman Rockwell painting.

I saw this movie in 1960 and that shot of the mother running through the fields made me – a young man of 23 at the time – teary-eyed.
I watched it again today and it again brought tears to my 73-year-old eyes.
