the ending

I really liked the movie and I totally understood that it is made of real events but I somehow was waiting for something in the end that did not come.
Although the Movie is more about winning a trial and not so much about finding out
the truth I would rather know what happened at the night of the murder.
Who beat the woman? Was it a rape? What about the panties?

The ending focuses more on the the protagonist’s improvement from the beginning. At the start, he’s down on his luck. He fishes all day, he plays the piano. He had recently lost his job as District Attorney. His best friend his a drunk. He can’t pay his secretary .

But then at the end, his friend is sober. Together, they’re going to start a practice. He’s going to help Barney’s daughter with the will, which shows that he has clients lined up

Notice that he doesn’t seem bothered or devastated with the fact that the Ltd was really guilty? It’s because Paul feels his life is back on track. He has stuff to be happy about. Putting all his energies and effort into this trial worked as a sort of course correction
