Hotel clerk reading Exodus

Did anyone notice that there was hotel clerk reading novel Exodus? What makes it interesting is that Exodus was to become Preminger's next film after Anatomy of Murder. I wonder if he discovered the novel while shooting this film or if he was already aware that he was gonna make that film next and wanted little inside joke into the film.

Wow! How many times have I seen this and never noticed?
It's interesting. Now I must find out if Preminger already had plans in the works for that....
Not a favorite movie, even if Paul Newman was in it!
