I know I know written by the great Duke Ellington but completely inappropriate for the story - Jazz didn't enhance the power of the story (which movie music is aupposed to do) it drew attention to itself and distracted from the story. As an aside when I first saw it in 1959 I was very much a jazz fan and thought the music was fabulous - perceptions change
shareI thought the music was great!!! I watched the bonus features on the DVD I was watching, and the music editor (I think that's who he was) explained in a detailed way how Ellington wrote the soundtrack for the film. It was truly an education, and while I've always admired Ellington, this bonus feature really was very impressive.
