Anatomy's run-time?

So I haven't seen this yet, but got a great deal on the Criterion blu so blind bought it. The run-time says 160 minutes, which seems very long being that this seems to be a court room drama. I enjoy long films, but my question is, does this film drag on and on, or does it seem to be perfectly paced? It's the same run-time as Bridge on the River Kwai, and that actually has a sense of high tension and action. Thanks for any input..

If you love courtroom dramas and mystery/suspense, this one sure won't drag.

It does run a very long time.

It's that man again!!

Once again, I'm talking to a ghost, but why not lure in a few people here on MovieChat?
I can personally say that this may seem like a long running film, but this story reels you in and you are hooked to the very end!
If you enjoy courtroom dramas, you will enjoy this. The cast alone, will keep you watching!

an excellent movie which is in the public domain for some reason.

reply

Hownos! hi there! I don't get you when you say it's in the public domain for some reason.
Sorry. I'm slow, but could you explain what you mean?

reply

no one owns the rights to the movie therefore it can play on TY or other sites without restrictions

reply

Oh! I see what you mean now. I had no idea! i thought that this was an important film!
I'm only being silly by saying that, but I really had no idea.
Is this sort of like It's a Wonderful Life or A Christmas Story, where it can be played wherever... whenever?

reply

yes It's a Wonderful Life is the best example but there are many others.

reply

Once again! I learned something new today.

you can find many others on myretroflix.com if you are interested

reply

Thanks! I will definitely check this out.

That means it's no longer covered by copyright. However, it's not actually accurate in the case of this movie. According to an article by Duke University, "Anatomy of a Murder" did not fall into public domain due to some copyright extension legislation passed in 1978.

If this actually was in the public domain, then there would be a whole lot of lousy DVD releases available from no-name companies, like you see with a lot of cheap film noir movies from the 1940s and 1950s that had their copyright lapse.

reply

It's perfectly paced.
