The Song

I love it when people discuss movies from the past without that much experience of watching them and consider them very antiseptic without any sexual references at all. Personally I was born in 1970 and have been watching movies from the silent period onwards since I was around 9 or 10. Having said that the song within this movie though is still rather shocking considering it was 1959. It can be about nothing else but sex and the depiction is extremely blatant. For a Bob Hope movie it is remarkable. The only thing more remarkable is the action of the sausage when Dorothy Lamour is spotted in Caught In The Draft - now that is truly astounding that they got away with including that in the movie!

Another point is that watching this movie for the first time as an HD presentation shows how much of an alcohol problem Wendell Corey had. His face was a marked red throughout.
