C;lassic TV brings back so many childhood memories

Have you ever started going down the path of nostalgia and think of a TV show that you saw as a child? When you think of that show, does it conjure up a particular memory? When I think of The Untouchables, I remember it came on past my bedtime. My dad worked two jobs so my mom could stay home. He would come home from his second job and sit down at our chrome kitchen table and watch the Untouchables. I remember getting out of bed to go see him and sitting on his lap while he ate dinner and I would watch a bit of the show with him before mom would send my back to bed. That is why this show has such a special place in my heart. I really wish they would put it out on DVD. I think my dad would LOVE it!!

It has special childhood memories for me too and it's now coming out on DVD in April, 2007--but only Season One, Vol 1, which covers half of the first season and also includes The Scarface Mob movie, which was a Desi Lu Playhouse that became the pilot for the show.

In the late 50s-early 60s my uncle lived on Chicago's north side, and I'd get to spend the weekend with him a couple of times year. One night we watched the Untouchables and the episode was something about the Capone gang, and I said something about them being so cool. He didn't like that at all, and told me a lot of stories about Chicago in the 20s and early 30s; sadly I've forgotten most of them. The next day he drove me around to see some of the places associated with Capone, including his house and the North Clark Street garage where the Moran gang was slain. I have several of the Untouchable episodes from when they were released in a VHS collection, and every time I watch them I think of that wonderful time my uncle drove me around.

My memories of the Untouchables started when I moved from New York to Miami, and watched the reruns on channel 6 (WCIX). This was back around 1974 through 1976. I don't know if those are still the call letters, but, I remember the vast majority of those episodes. Even more surreal, was on Saturday mornings on channel 6, it was played in Spanish. The episodes that stand out in my memories, are seeing actors in it that gave different memories to me. Among which; Jack Lord, James MacArthur, Robert Redford, Elizabeth Montgomery, Dick York, Frank Sutton, Telly Savalas, Brian Keith, John Banner, and countless others that I cannot recall. I can't wait to pick up the 1st season!
