That's the key, if you think it's going to be forever and that bothers you then you can control the outcome. For me, I'd at the very least enjoy the solitude for several days.

I think the repeatability mostly. I don't actually recall the first time I saw it, so I concede that maybe on first viewing its impact is sufficient for a pilot. But there are a lot of episodes where the twist is the only really bang the episode offers, and this is one of them in my opinion. The circumstances, the one man dialogue, the performance, etc. was insufficient to make this one repeatable to me after I found out the reason he was alone.
Fair enough.
