No 4th of July Marathon?!!!

SACRILEGE! Even on the Sy Fy channel! No Twilight Zone marathon this July 4th, 2020? Who’s idea was this? I’m so used to them I can set my calendar to it, man I’m so bummed.

EVERYONE knows that there’s New Years Eve/Day & Independence Day (In the US at least) to look forward to. Happy Birthday to me indeed, finding out that their will be no TZ marathon today! That’s one present I guess I won’t be getting today. Thanks for (partially) ruining my birthday Sy Fy! Oh well, but I have to wonder what happened this year.

Seriously what’s up with that?

reply

Yeah, it sucks. This is the third year no marathon. I guess Syfy figured they get better ratings airing movies instead. They care more about numbers than the fans. Decades channel has a marathon but I don’t get that.

reply

Well you can see the whole series on Prime.

reply

Hmmm.....nice to know! Thank you.

reply

But not season 4, which has some really terrific episodes.

reply

What a bummer! Happy birthday anyway.

reply

Thank you Jennie!

I believe it is airing on Decades TV. Check your local listing to see if you have in your area by going over to there website and entering your zip code. I know most people don't have it in their area, which is unfortunate. I guess, I'll do my own marathon. Happy TZ day y'all!

reply

Yes, I was just going to say that. It's on Decades. The current episode is The Shelter, airdate 29SEP 1961. One week later JFK recommended Americans build fallout shelters. One year later was the Cuban Missile Crisis. https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/kennedy-urges-americans-to-build-bomb-shelters

Strange, I thought that I had this channel on my cable (Optimum) but I don’t see it. Searched for “The Twilight Zone” in the search field & it didn’t bring up anything for either a “Decades” channel or any episodes being shown on the 4th. :(

reply

I've got Xfinity, so Decades may only be on certain cable services.

reply

Put b b up an antenna. It's an over the air channel like Metv..so you may pick it up. It's a great free channel.

reply

I agree but part of me just doesn't care. SyFy edits their Zone episodes so they can get more commercials in the time slot. I avoid that channel like the lump of steaming dog shit that it is.

reply

Totally agree with you there, the only reason I even watch that dumb channel is because of the TZ marathons, commercials & all. Talk about not knowing a good thing when you have one. Regarding their bi -annual marathons.

reply

Yup. Decades edits as well but not like syfy.

reply

Let me get this straight. In the year 2020, with all that's plaguing the world, you are actually bawling like a newborn because this very old series, albeit a great one, has been removed from SyFy??? If the ratings aren't there, they have every right to alter their programming! Furthermore, the series has been on home video for decades, available to watch uncut and without ads shoved into every truncated ep.

Jesus, break down and purchase the series instead of complaining like a baby about that which you cannot change. I can't even imagine watching old TV shows on cable anymore.

Move on, dude.

reply

You're making a much bigger deal of it than anyone else here. Maybe you can take some of your own advice.

reply

I own the series on hard media, but watch it on marathons anyway. For some reason, knowing I'm watching it at the same time so many other fans are makes the viewing more fun.

Also, the OP's "outrage" was more satirical than anything else.

reply

True! I fell behind during one of the New Year's marathons and watched on Netflix just to keep up with the discussion thread here.

reply

I used to enjoy the marathons, but since I got rid of my DirectTV last fall, I can't watch anything. That's fine with me because of all the "ads shoved into every truncated episode."

I have the shows that I want to watch on DVD: I Love Lucy, Mary Tyler Moore, MASH, Sanford and Son, etc. (and plenty of hour long dramas too).

The uncut and uninterrupted for stupid ads DVDs spoil you for regular TV.

Sometimes it was fun watching the TZ marathon and knowing other fans were watching too, but I can't say I miss it too much.

reply

Hey Gary, if you’re so concerned with all that’s plaguing the world in 2020 why don’t you do shut up & do something about it? You know instead of criticizing me for being somewhat disappointed that one of my favorite holiday traditions that I look forward to didn’t happen this year & it was tongue in cheek at that. What do YOU care how I enjoy it whether I watch it on cable or not?
Mr. Moneybags, would YOU like to buy me the DVD’s since you’re adamant that I’d have them?

As estcst had observed, you seem to have made it a bigger deal than I did. Why don’t you move on dude? Or at least go back to your “I Love Lucy” shows. Sheesh, I swear people pop onto these boards just for conflict or to get a rise out of people.

You're such a baby, I couldn't help but respond to your incredibly stupid thread. And, yes, I watch "I Love Lucy" and other classic shows on DVD and Blu Ray.

Suggestion: drop your overpriced cable - which airs mostly junk - and invest in some shows. Then make the effort to make some REAL friendships, then you won't have suck your thumb while watching cut TV shows in your mother's basement before rushing to get back online with your pretend TZ friends.

Ooohhh Witty comeback. I see you pooled every ounce of your indelible sarcastic wit that you must obviously be known for on MC, for that response. I don’t even understand half of your insults. What do YOU know of me & my overpriced cable? Hint! I don’t pay for anything, try again. I’ve noticed that you hadn’t had a snide remark for anyone else here who responded to you. You must have had a orgasm when I responded which is probably what you were waiting for. My bad, I broke the cardinal rule, “Do not feed the trolls”. You win the internet today apeboy. That and a years supply of douchekits. The next time you feel you can’t help yourself, Please DO!

To do you one better, I’m going to post what you said for everyone to see but place you on “Ignore” so you won’t be able to keep this going any further which I”m sure is going to enrage your 10 year old mentality.
