The Bard. A Serling comedy at twenty-four minutes is bad enough. At twice that length it's unbearable.

Steel. With (dis)honorable mention to The Mighty Casey.

Other than the intro -- which I love -- "The Mighty Casey" is an ordeal on par with "The Bard" ( the only reason I don't rank it lower than "The Bard" is because of "The Bard"'s length and the fact that Jack Weston makes for a much more irritating lead than Jack Warden ... but that slide whistle in "Casey" is so intrusive and awful that -- who knows? -- I may one day decide "Casey" sucks even more).

There are a few on my don't-watch list, and The Bard is right there.

The one with Carol Burnett is a stinker that pops to mind. I also won't watch Elegy. Those three astronauts summarily killed and used for display purposes is disturbing.

Probably The Howling Man.

reply

Great answer. It's considered one of the best episodes and I never have the urge to watch it if it's on.

Sound and Silences

reply

I first thought Sounds and Silences was the one where the dude cut his own vocal cords to win a bet by permanently ensuring his silence..

Now I know which it is, and I skip that one as well. I've never been a fan of John McGiver either.

I think it comes down to re-watchability. Pretty much every TZ was at least decent on first viewing, it's after we've all seen them a dozen or more times where our "do not watch" list develops.

I've seen Sounds and Silences maybe three times tops because it's not very good in repeat viewings.

The Big tall wish.

Black Leather Jackets.

I don't like the videotaped episodes. Not because of their content, which is fine, but because I dislike the look of videotape for scripted programs. I wish they could be reworked somehow so they look like film and match the filmed episodes visually. I suppose this would have some of the same stigma as colorization, but it wouldn't be as bad.

"Young Man's Fancy" but probably "The Incredible World of Horace Ford" felt too long. just way too long and the characters/motivation was just dumb.
