Worst Wife/Girlfriend in the Series?

It seems like we get a lot of really mean wives/girlfriends in the series. Who would you say is the worst of the bunch?

Off the top of my head they make Nora in A World of Difference Seem particularly nasty, but I’m sure there are much better answers.

Joan Blondell's character in "What's In The Box?" comes to mind...

reply

With the exception of Pat Carter in "Nick of Time" they were all pretty bad.

reply

Helen from "Time Enough at Last". She was so nasty for no reason and seemed to revel in it.

I'm watching this one on the mini-marathon right now, and she makes the first half of the episode almost unwatchable. Why hasn't he gotten divorced by now?

this one plus the wife in A Stop at Willoughby.

reply

Yes, I've always hated the wife in Willoughby.

This question has been asked before in these discussions, and there are always quite a few women characters named. But then, there are some nasty men as well, such as the boss in Willoughby.

reply

That Boss was beyond awful!

reply

That's because Gart didn't push push push.

I heard that because of time constraints on a half hour show, they had to drop the final scene that was even more twisty than when he broke his glasses. The scene was reported to be like this: After he broke his glasses and was wailing about the unfairness of it, a group of swimsuit models who had somehow survived in the library basement heard him and came up to investigate. As Henry got excited that there were some more people, and hot women at that, he started to run to them and tripped, spilling his whole bottle of Viagra down a floor drain. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Helen from "Time Enough at Last"
My pick too! She was just plain cruel to that poor little man.

reply

Burgess Meredith's wife in that episode where he reads all the time.

reply

"Monsters on maple street" that chick who told everyone her husband is working on a secret 'radio' in her basement?!
wtf lady you know it's the cold war why would you tell that to the neighbors ??

reply

Great point about the radio!

Nora is the first one that comes to mind. I understand that there is a back story with her husband's drinking but she would not stop nagging him even when it was clear he wasn't drunk and there was something really wrong with him.

reply

Short drink from a certain fountain. Horrible woman.

reply

the fucking cunt in a stop at wiloughby. he should have smacked her silly.

reply

I don't remember the actress or episode title, but there was one where William Demarest ended up getting the chair for killing his horrible wife.
