No Marathon?

The SyFy schedule has finally been posted up through the 4th, and there doesn't appear to be a TZ marathon.

They always have a marathon.

Sometimes they cut it close when announcing the schedule. I can't believe that SyFy wouldn't have it.
They tried that crap a number of years ago when they decided to air The Greatest American Hero Instead of TZ over the 4th of July. It didn't sit well with us true blue fans. They learned their lesson when they fooled with our TZ!

Replacing "TZ" with "The Greatest American Hero"? Glad I wasn't a "TZ" buff back then. Looks like this year they're running a Freddy Krueger marathon instead of a "TZ" one. Now, I'm as much of a Freddy fan as the next person (and at least "Elm Street" isn't "The Greatest American Hero"), but please, SyFy, do us all a favor, and reconsider preempting Serling's stories of the uncanny for everyone's favorite burnt child molester.

TGAH Would have been a better choice for the 4th.
Freddie's alright... for Halloween!
I can just imagine how this is going to sit with TZ fans. While I no longer get cable, I'm lucky enough to have the DVD set. I also have Netflix. They have all episodes except the hour long ones for some odd reason. I feel for all fans who have neither.
I always liked the fact that we could all come on line and discuss during the marathons. What were they thinking when they decided on Freddie?

It's true, no marathon.

Thanks for posting this. It includes a link to the Facebook TZ page. I'm not on Facebook, so I don't post there, but it was nice to see how many people there are angry and encouraging one another to write to the SyFy channel.

There should be a Twilight Zone episode about the SyFy Channel cancelling the Twilight Zone Marathon, and the world freaking out.

Kind of like The Purge but with angrier people.

reply

I'd watch!

reply

But not on SyFy.

reply

Actually, TJLamb0518, it wouldn't work on any other network because the point would be to make Syfy itself part of The Twilight Zone.

reply

That is a hilarious idea, SnagsWolf! It would make a creative and very creepy story.

reply

Just came here to say the same thing! Nooooooo!

Any other alternatives?

It has been annunciated that Syfy has cancelled at the last minute, so, alas, it's not a matter of the schedule still being inaccurate. The network has not given an explanation. Tristan_Booth, I'm just as upset as you are. The marathon has been a special and major part of my Fourth Of July for years. Without it, the holiday will feel incomplete.

reply

Yep, could be a sign of things to come. Syfy is trying to trend away from the TZ demographic, I guess, in favor of a younger demo. Whatever the case, it is a disappointment but I often wonder when they will once and for all say adieu to TZ altogether. Besides the marathon seasons, Syfy buries TZ in the early, early wee hours. It's importance to them isn't even ceremonial. It's a remaining holdover from a different era they have since distanced themselves from.

reply

"TZ"'s too good of a show for Syfy.

reply

This is some bull@#$_!!!

reply

Gonna be on decades. So get yourselves some antennas, program your TV's and most should get it.
