I'm going to assume...

That most of you are fans of Alfred Hitchcock Presents/The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and One Step Beyond, among other great anthology series of the era. Are there any TZ fans out there who haven't seen these series? If you're a TZ fan, then you should watch these...they come highly recommended...and, you're in for a real treat.

reply

I LOVE the TZ, but I just could not get into Alfred Hitchcocks TV show's. I do enjoy a good AH movie though, I'll do "A Man who knew too much" anyday all day:)

reply

Was it just too much murder for you?

reply

Yes, mpiccolo55000. I definitely LOVE anthology series, Twilight Zone being at the top of my list. Night Gallery, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Tales From the Crypt, Creepshow, Ray Bradbury, Outer Limits... I could go on.

Nothing beats a good story.

reply

I loved the Hitchcock series, I have really not seen the others too much.

reply

I had forgotten there were two separate incarnations of The Ray Bradbury Theater -- one in the mid-80s and one in the early 90s.

reply

Me too! There was a show in the 2000s called "Night Visions" I liked too.

reply

I love them all. One Step Beyond? I own that series. I also own the AH Hour. Too many Favorites to mention! TZ is my Fave.
Happy New Year! 

reply

Fun fact (and for anyone who'd like to claim that the other shows were copying The Twilight Zone), TZ was actually the last one (of the three mentioned) to premiere -- One Step Beyond came out nine months before The Twilight Zone and Alfred Hitchcock Presents/The Alfred Hitchcock Hour came out four years prior to TZ.

You have excellent taste, by the way.

reply

Under the recommendation of a poster on here, I saw an episode of One Step Beyond....just could not get into it.
Alfred Hitchcock hour..while not as great as TZ, I do enjoy it.

reply

To each their own.

reply

I love Tales From the Crypt... I love it as much as Twilight Zone but of course TZ is my #1... but tales it inches behind.. I also love Master of Horrors .. I like Alfred Hitchcock presents but not as much as those above..

reply

I'd never even heard of Master of Horrors...obviously, I looked it up. It looks quite darker than these shows from the 50s and 60s.

reply

just saw this thread so i thought I would add to the chat. I have the One Step Beyond series on DVD, also Alfred Hitchcock Presents..all the seasons that are available on DVD, the Ray Bradbury theater, Tales from the Crypt, Thriller, Kolchak the night stalker, the Invaders(with Roy Thinnes). Oh, also all of Alfred Hitchcock's movies in two boxed sets.

reply

We could totally be friends.

reply

I LOVE Alfred Hitchcock presents. So many awesome actors, too, that have gone on to become big stars. I watch it late on MeTV a lot.

reply

I found the box set of One Step Beyond in a Walmart $5.00 bin. What a treasure!

reply

That is an excellent find. I don't know if you're into B-movies from back in the day (while cheap-looking in their cinematography, the acting and writing is better than many would be led to believe), but if you are, there's a company called Mill Creek Entertainment that puts out DVD box sets of B-movies. You can go on Amazon and buy a box set of 100 movies for a mere fifteen bucks! You've got to consider that even if you end up liking only a handful of the 100, that's still a bargain at fifteen dollars.

reply

I've acquired several boxed sets from Mill Creek! Their production values are pretty shabby, but I've found all the old Cisco Kid, Roy Rogers, etc. tv shows. It's a walk down memory lane!

reply

Shabby production values...so true!
