Wm. Lundigan space helmet!

I had one; this must have been around 1960. I can still remember what it smelled like (no, that's not a bad thing). Were there any other toy tie-ins with the show?

I also had the helmet. I don't know about other toys, but I had the board game. Little rockets racing to the moon, I believe.

There was a Dell comic book edition of the series printed in 1960 with a beautiful color photo cover of William Lundigan as Col. Ed McCauley, NASA astronaut, with a color shot of his spaceship behind him. I used to have one, and want another one now!

Wow, I saw that at a garage sale last summer. I didn't buy it but I bought a couple others that were classics for a quarter apiece. Now I wish I had picked that up too.

I had one too. I remember in particular the folding plastic visor and "microphone" for communications (a plastic kazoo-like wafer that made your voice sound like it was coming through the radio!)

One of my very favorite toys -- sure would like to see one again.

I had one too - it said "McCauley" on the helmet just above the visor. I couldn't yet read - and when told it said "McCauley", felt it couldn't be genuine since it didn't have his "whole name" - "Colonel McCauley" (I assumed this was his first and last name). I was very upset - my parents had to insist that this was genuine, that "colonel" was his rank, not his name, etc.

I remember very well both that plastic where your mouth was, that makes your voice change (like a small comb).

I loved Colonel McCauley - just idolized him. But then there were others too - very much Swamp Fox, Davey Crockett, Roy Rogers, Rin Tin Tin, Sky King, Fury, Tarzan, Jungle Jim, The Lone Ranger, Lassie, My Friend Flicka, Sergeant Preston and his dog, many many others! And a little older, Sugarfoot, Bronco, Cheyenne, and very much Bart and Bret Maverick (I wrote my first fan letter - to James Garner), can't remember what Roger Moore's English cousin's name was. What wonderful programming for children!

I had one too and our log cabin playhouse was my space ship. I have never forgotten that helmet. This is a thrill right now, I am watching episode 1 for the first time since I was 8 years old.

I remember using mine as a spacecraft for my GI Joe action figure. Ah the memories.😊
