Why no DVD?

I have heard that when this show went off the air Jackie Cooper (or someone?) made it legally impossible to syndicate the reruns and that the legal document involved was so thorough and ironclad that no one could even put it on video tape or DVD. This story seems unlikely, but why else has this series never been seen again?

I came across a DVD today, offered on Amazon.com, available from two third-party sellers. Titled "Collector's Edition" and 'Hennesey, Vol 1', it has 10 episodes. Have not seen it yet but have ordered it. Don't know its release date or the source, but the reviews from people who have purchased it are very good, both complementing the show and the quality of the transfer. The only negative review was from someone who was expecting belly laughs (obviously had never seen the show).

thanks for the heads up.

Miles, you don't want to buy one of those DVD's. Instead, go to the website TV Shows On DVD (www.tvshowsondvd.com) and request that it be put on DVD (this site has a lot of success in that regard.)

From what I've heard, the person responsible for doing this was creator Don McGuire, who jointly owned the show with Jackie Cooper. He apparently allowed for a very short run on TV Land, but that's been about it. His motives for doing so went to the grave with him.
