Hawaiian Eye

Having a great time watching Hawaiian Eye on ALN. Having lived in Hawaii for several years, I can say this is the most authentic of the 3 major series with Hawaii themes. Especially Ponce Ponce and his pidgin speaking buddies. It was my fave series back in the late 50's and early 60's.

I discovered "Hawaiian Eye" several years ago when it was broadcast on GoodTV, and became a fan of the show. Unfortunately, ALN is not carried by our local cable and satellite providers.

Wish that more such shows from the "golden years" of television would be shown on TV Land or even be made available on DVD! I would definitely be interested in purchasing DVDs of Hawaiian Eye and the other Warner Bros detective shows from this era.

If that's true, then it's a bit ironic, considering that the later Hawaii Five-O and Magnum, P.I. were actually filmed on location in Hawaii. Hawaiian Eye, like its contemporaries Bourbon Street Beat (set in New Orleans) and Surfside Six (set in Miami) was shot on the Warner Brothers lot in Burbank, California. Stock footage of real Hawaiian locations was used for establishing shots and process backgrounds.
