What Would a 5th Season Had Been Like?

I know the show ended because Jay North was getting too old for the role, but I wonder what would have happened if the show had gone on longer. Like what if Dennis had gone from troublemaking kid to accident prone teenager (like Archie Andrews). While the tone of the show may have changed, it might have given Jay North a chance to see if he can do some real physical comedy like John Ritter in his 3's Company days. Maybe have Dennis start getting interested in girls more and have to rely on Mr. WIlson to be his wingman/Mr. Furley type character.

Maybe that kind of comedy could have also opened up more doors for Jay North to continue acting and helped him break out of being typecast as Dennis if he proved he could play more than one type of role.

Season 4 is unwatchable. I couldn't even get through it. The episodes I did watch, I had to struggle a lot to finish watching because they are so agonizingly painful to endure. I'll probably go back and struggle through the rest of them at some point just so I know what the whole series' content is. But I dread the unfortunate day when I start doing that.

I don't see how Season 5 could possibly have been any better.

When Kearns died, everything about the show fell apart. Dennis getting older is a big problem, sure, but just one of many. Other irredeemable problems are that Gale Gordon is incredibly obnoxious and always unfunny as Mr. Wilson, his wife is bland dead weight and a disgraceful replacement for Sylvia Field (a brilliant actress who never should have been fired), and the writing in general became almost-always atrocious.

Turning Dennis into an "Archie"-type probably would've been the only way to continue this series especially with Dennis getting older, generally getting along with John Wilson and he'd have to eventually acquire Margret as his girlfriend.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

Well, they had also already ran out of slapstick jokes way back in Season 2. Season 3 and 4 have very little slapstick in them.

So where would those writers suddenly receive new slapstick ideas from in Season 5?

Dennis would start having sex with all the neighborhood MILFs, and have lots of hilarious escapes from their cuck hubbies. Show changes title to Dennis the Penis.
