"A Dream to Dream"

Why does Hoss give the wrong explanation of his name in this episode?

Though "hoss" can be slang for "horse", we have been told that "hoss" signified a person of strength and integrity -- roughly equivalent to "mensch".

I can't comment on the ending, because I promised not to remark on such things.

I don't recall Hoss ever explaining why he is called "Hoss". He corrects those who calls him "Horse" by telling them that it's just "plain old Hoss". The explanation for him being called "Hoss" is by his uncle who said that it was a person of strength.

If I remember correctly.

I heard Ben introduce Hoss with his given name of Eric. How often do we hear his real first name?
