Soccer in the Old West? I saw an episode, I think called "Don't Cry my Son". Anyhow, this lady was pregnant and the baby kicked and she said the baby was going to be a soccer player. Did people play soccer in the old west?!?!?

recent research has shown that the modern game entered America in the 1850s through New Orleans when Scottish, Irish, and German immigrants brought the game with them. It was in New Orleans that some of the first organized games that used modern English rules were held.[1]
At that time, there were a number of variations of ball games played on foot which would eventually be codified into soccer, American football, rugby, etc.
