Perfect Combination

Anyone ever notice that the fanciful depiction of Masterson here is like melding Bart Maverick and James West into one character...
Very "Hollywood-ized" but entertaining.

There certainly are many similarities to both characters--who are among my all-time favorites from Western series.

Yesterday I watched an episode I recorded a week earlier from the Westerns channel. It was about Bat outwitting a sheriff who owned the mortgage on a saloon Bat had just inherited. If he couldn't pay $3000 within 10 days, foreclosure would turn it over and the sheriff would control a whole block of stores--all ready to sell to the railroad for a huge profit.

As I watched it, I couldn't help but think about this being a Maverick-type of plot. Now I was thinking Bret and James Garner, but the maneuvering by Bat was certainly similar, in a half-hour format, to the types of things the Maverick brothers did.
