97 Episode Complete Series - One Step Beyond???

Are the 97 Episode Complete Series - One Step Beyond on the Internet really the complete series? Was the complete series ever released on DVD?

reply

Commercially, I own a set of 49 and have a 12 ep. set of which 7 aren't in the 49. There may be 98 out there but not commercially.

reply

but IMDB list only 36 episodes!!!!! I want to buy a dvd that has 33 episodes, but what is the real number of episodes?

reply

I just bought a DVD from Wal*Mart caled "The Very Best of One Step Beyond" It has 50 episodes on it. It cost me a solid $5.00

reply

Wal-Mart for the win!

Beatles Apple Scruff.

I think I have the same set. I came to this site to compare the episode list and see what episodes are missing. "Contact" seems to be one of the episodes I do not have.

This is the first time I have seen OSB since it aired originaly.

I bought the same DVD (50 episodes) at a garage sale for $5 - brand new! I hope SOMEONE made some money somewhere along the line!

My memory isn't as good as it used to be. Also, my memory isn't as good as it used to be.

reply

Good ole Wally World!
I bought one too! $5!
there are 78?...

Movie girl: There are really 96 episodes. I bought the first year on DVD released professionally. The second season is not hard to get here and there on DVD, but frustratingly enough, it is Season 3 that is elusive. When I purchased different sets (first on VHS and later on DVD) they were always missing certain episodes and of course duplicating others! (Surprised that IMDB lists only a third of the episodes!)

As a child of 8 when the series was new, it was nearly my favorite TV series. In fact, even today I love Twilight Zone nearly equally and love watching both still.

The episodes I kept trying to find were Nightmare and Eyewitness. I finally found someone selling the complete series for $60 and I went ahead and did it. The quality is not too bad and I did get the 2 I kept searching for, albeit that they are a little dark here and there.

reply

mr. mcannady1, i have the series on dvd in 2 different collections. i, like you, have missing episodes. can you please tell me where you found your complete collection so i can purchase. regards, james

reply

Movie girl: It was a man in San Francisco, not a company. I got the whole set
for $60. IF I can't find his e-mail you could tell me which ones and I could maybe help you with the ones you don't have. He was selling all of it, so I couldn't tell him it was just the 3rd season. MEanwhile, I will look back in my records and see.
Best,
Janet - IT was about 2 years ago I think..

reply

Movie girl: Sorry I could not find the seller's name. We paid by check at his request. And I am Mrs. M. Cannady! (hence, movie girl: I collect old movies too).

I HAVE 58 EPISODES ON 6 DVDS OF THIS PUBLIC DOMAIN TITLE, SUPERB QUALITY IF ANYONES INTRESTED ?

reply

I have the four DVD, 49 episode set of One Step Beyond by Mill Creek Entertainment that I purchased from WalMart for $5.00. It is a great value.

I see a complete 97 episode of One Step Beyond at http://www.skaryguyvideo.com/onestepbeyond.htm . I have no idea of the quality, but at $69.99 for the set I have to give such a purchase pause for thought.

reply

You can get it cheaper actually if you go to one of these seller/trader sites. I've seen a cheap set for $40.00 which promises all 97 episodes.

reply

Hey Steve

I also got the same deal from Wal-Mart out of that five dollar bin. Not bad!

I've seen a guy on E-Bay for the past few months hawking all three seasons, he's been up there for a few months.Still, you know the crap shoot e-bay is. He claims they are not bootlegs. Whatever that might mean. He's selling them season by season.

reply

: Yes, I know what you mean. I bought the whole thing for $60 because I was missing the third season. The first two seasons were released professionally, but the third is in public domain here and there. I just had a request for Death WAlts. It looks awful in this set; very blurred, so I am going to make the copy from one a friend gave me. In a way I got my money's worth, but $60 was a lot to pay. I did love the show when very young.

(Earlier I purchased a set of 12 in boxed set, but was not complete even then! THey were missing my favorites from the third season. There is a fabulous episode toward the end of 3rd season about a man painting the same woman every time. OF course, his fiance gets bugged. Well, I have it now, but kind of blurred with a line thru it.

So, I have a lot of repeats. But I am happy to have the set now. (About 10 years ago I purchased a 5 VHS set of the show and got 40 episodes. Some of them look better than what I got from this guy. Too bad there is no semblance of order on these releases. I have Mill Creek and Barkview is what it says on the ones in the 97 ep. set.

I notice this still is an unanswered question. I too would like to know how to look for and FIND the complete set of 97 episodes. Is the 5 dvd set the one with all episodes? I have the 4 dvd "best of" set as well and loved every minute of it. How can I complete my collection of this GREAT series with the least expense? anyone out there know?

reply

I'd like to contribute to the discussion, as I am interested in finding the complete series too: I have 12 DVDs from Alpha Video, with 4 episodes each, so a total of 48 episodes. Anybody know if the set linked by stephen-423 is affordable and/or what is it? And what episodes do have the other releases? Thanks to those who will help :-)

This is the list of the Alpha Video DVDs:
[DVD 01] - (the episodes have not title)
"Chapter 1"
"Chapter 2"
"Chapter 3"
"Chapter 4"

[DVD 02] -
The Peter Hurkos Story part 1
The Peter Hurkos Story part 2
Person Unknown
The Trap

[DVD 03] -
Epilogue
Front Runner
Call from Tomorrow
Ordeal on Locust Street

[DVD 04] -
Midnight
Delia
Anniversary of Murder
Rendezvous

[DVD 05] -
The Last Round
I saw you Tomorrow
The Riddle
The Hand

[DVD 06] -
The Aerialist
Night of April 14th
The Dead Part of the House
Message from Clara

[DVD 07] -
The Secret
The Dark Room
Make me not a Witch
Goodbye Grandpa

[DVD 08] -
Earthquake
Forked Lightning
The Dream
Echo

[DVD 09] -
Delusion
The Captain's Guest
Night of Decision
The Devil's Laughter

[DVD 10] -
The Return of Mitchell Campion
The Executioner
Where are they?
To know the End

[DVD 11] -
Gypsy
The Stone Cutter
The Mask
Tonight at 12:17

[DVD 12] -
The Lovers
Legacy of Love
Moment of Hate
Dead Man's Tale

EDIT:
Ok, I have checked another thread and found out the the Very Best of One Step Beyond has the following episodes that are not included in the Alpha Video release, but keep in mind that 4 episodes might be those that have no title on DVD 01:

Brainwave
Clown, The
Dead Ringer
Doomsday
Explorer, The
Inheritance, The
Justice
Open Window, The
Storm, The
Tidal Wave
Vanishing Point
Vision, The
Visitor, The
Who Are You?

So the total of the 2 sets is 58 unique episodes plus 4 that I can't tell if they are the same. Still missing many episodes.

EDIT 2:
Comparing the Alpha Video Set with the other similar 12-DVDs one (by Delta?),
the "untitled" episodes might be:

DEAD FINGER (or Ringer?)
THE OPEN WINDOW
THE VISION
VANISHING POINT

which are all included in those 14 from the "Very best of One Step Beyond", so
I can be almost sure that only 10 episodes are exclusive and the final total is 58 officially released unique episodes.

Anybody who points me to an affordable-not-too-much-expensive full collection is welcome.

reply

Ok, I've tried to contact the guy linked by stephen-423 and received no reply in 2 days, but after some research I've discovered that Alpha Video is going to continue the series and will release volumes 13,14 and 15 on january 28th 2008. So we can hope they will publish the entire series in the following months :-)

Only question left is how much will it be for these sets.

"We have guided missiles and misguided men."

On may 6, amazon.com is releasing 97 episodes of one step beyond on 8 discs..It's been released by millcreek entertainment..retail price is $24.00

reply

Well, I just went into Amazon.com and found the recommendable reference book, An Analytical Guide To Television's One Step Beyond by John Muir. Try abebooks for a better price.
There was also a sponsored link to skaryguyvideo. Who among us shall have the courage to take a chance and spend the money, and then PLEASE write a review?
PLEASE note: WHOEVER comes out with a complete version of this fine show (no boots, please) is going to make SERIOUS MONEY.

I purchased Season two, because I really wanted the Lincoln show "The Day the World Wept". The quality varies from each episode. There are no commercials, but at the end of one episode you can hear something like "Tonight, on Channel 33 news, ...". I guess some episodes were copied from UHF TV. Anyway, I am pondering buying season 1 and 3 also.

The 12 dvd set that netflix is currently renting seems to be the highest quality out there right now. It contains 48 episodes scattered over the course of the run of the program. But I just noticed that volumes 13 and 14 have been released and are for sale on ebay, so I imagine the intent is to complete the series.

Patience is the key word, I guess. :)

I don't know anything about the 97 episodes on DVD, but I just purchased a 4-disk/50 episode set at Walmart for $5.00. What a thrill to see these shows again, though they have probably been copied from syndication prints. Regardless, each episode still stands on its own and is beyond enjoyable.

From Mill Creek Entertainment, the first 50 eps:

and also the final 47 eps:

Both with a RRP of $14,95 but can no doubt be picked up at a much cheaper price in bargain bins.

In regards to the final 47 episodes of One Step Beyond that you refer too
from Mill Creek, when i go to their main site & do a search for One Step Beyond
i only get the first 50 episode DVD set not the last 47 episode one.

This 47 episode set was due to be released about a year ago but for some reason was not done so, from reports this was due to the fact that some of them were not in the Public Domain.

Could you confirm that this set is coming out, as one can not purchase it from the link provided & the main Mill Creek page does not allow one to do so either nor does it acknowledge it's existence.

reply

WOW...No one has posted here in over FOUR years. Anyway...

Edward R. Hamilton Booksellers in Falls Village Conn. now has, as of today, TWO boxed sets of two DVD's each of the OSB series.

For the amazing low price of just $6 each. That's a deal! Just google search the company and search for the dvd's.

BTW, Mill Creek was supposed to come out with the remaining 50 episodes to the first set of dvd's, but as I heard the story, there was a problem with copyright laws and the whole deal fell through.

Good luck everyone. I also found the first Mill Creek set at Wal-Mart for $5.
