Con-Fu-Shon Chinaman Doll -Tom Thumb Movie Toy

Kindest Regards:

I just looked through an old chest that I had as a child and found a pair of
Con-Fu-Shon China Man Dolls that has tags on them promoting the Tom Thumb Movies, a George Pal Production. The only other marking was Stuart, Inc., Saint Paul, Minnesota. There was no date on the dolls but I believe that the movie we saw took place in 1960 instead of 1958. In either case is there anyway to obtain a date or more information about the dolls?

I greatly appreciate your help.

You probably saw a re-issue of the film in 1960. Anyway, Google the doll, or check on eBay, for its value. I just came across a great program/booklet for George Pal's later film, "The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm."

Thanks for the advise. However, I am not having any luck. Again, sincerest thanks.

Dear Wanda5586,

I was very excited to read that you have two Con-Fu-Shon Chinaman dolls from the tom thumb movie! My grandfather, Tom Howard won an Oscar for creating the special effects for tom thumb and if you ever want to part with the dolls I would be over the moon if I could purchase them from you!

I hope you enjoyed the movie, it's very difficult to get hold of it in the UK it's only on DVD in the states for some reason.

Thanks,
Steve Howard

Dear Mr. Howard:

I saw the movie as a child, in the late 50's, in Chicago.
At the theater, my parents bought me a Con-fu-shon doll.
It is accompanied by the original tag.
If you are still interested in purchasing a Chinaman doll, please reply.

Thank you,

Linda Morton

Hi Linda

Just seen your posts on here, I am dying to know if these were bought off you? If not I may be interested in purchasing a Chinaman doll dependent on how much you wanted for him. Please let me know either way as I watched this film countless times as a kid and would love to find out if you managed to contact Steven Howard :-)

T: What's your position?
P: upright, head turned slightly to the left.
T: Why do I bother??!!
