Maybe it's because it was low-budget, and not polished, but this film looks like it could've been made in the late 60's, early 70's, or even mid 80's. Maybe it's the type of film print used, but it's kind of cool -- makes the 50's seem far more immediate.

The hairstyles are a dead give away.
But yeah, it easily looks like a lot of stuff from the 60's.
But keep in mind that this is '58 - not the early 50's.

It strikes me that "contemporary would be if it looked like it was shot in the '90s or after 2000, not forty years ago.
