remake

Anybody ready for a new version of THE WAGES OF FEAR/SORCEROR? I have never seen this version, but I spent a couple of years writing the story and screenplay for a variation on the theme. The hard part is finding something new to add.

How about THE WAGES OF FEAR with women? Instead of four tough guys driving the trucks, we have four women. Why can't women do the job as well as men if not better?

In addition to being a dark comedy, it also is a tribute to Republic serials, Preston Sturges, John Ford, Italian cannibal and Hong Kong Category III films, and Barry Levinson(How did he sneak in there?).

Another variation on the theme is the British HELL'S DRIVERS with Sean Connery, Herbert Lom, Patrick McGoohan, David McCallum and Jill Ireland made around 1957.

I'm ready---hit me! I'd love to see any and all variations of this theme because I love it. Bing on the female truckers!

Happy holidays.

I've never seen VIOLENT ROAD, but I did see HELL'S DRIVERS which has a great cast with Connery, Hebert Lom, David McCallum and Patrick MacGoohan. Different story but still an interesting variation.

My story from a voice in my head, and I don't normally hear voices. "THE WAGES OF FEAR with women. I stopped and thought that an interesting idea. Why can't women do the job as well as men? I hadn't seen either TWOF or SORCEROR in several years, and I have no idea where the voice came from. I sat down and watched them back to back

It toom about two months to develop the story and the characters. I did not want to do a remake, but I wanted to see what I could do with the basic plot.
NO MORE ROOM IN HELL ran about ninety pages which was too short for a novel and too long for a short story. It's structured like a movie, and I thought why not try to write a screenplay.

That took two years because I didn't know how to write one until I found a computer program. I don't have a very visual sense, but I submitted to film class I was taking and got a B-. I also submitted it to a screenwriting contest in Hollywood, but nobody was interested.

The ssceenplay is a tribute to old movies, actors and directors: Preston Sturges, John Ford, Barry Levinson, Republice serials, Hong Kong Category III films and Italian cannibal films among others. Actors include Allen "Rocky" Lane, Duncan Renaldo and Ralph Tabakin, a friend of mine who appeared in all of Levinson's movies until his death.

My last idea was a combination of THE SANDS OF IWO JIMA, FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS, and Ray Harryhausen's JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS.

See you at the movies.

I thought of 'Hell Drivers' too while watching this. I reckon 'Violent Road' shows Brian Keith at his toughest.

I like your idea a lot-send me a reply if you ever finish writing the script.

Sure, I'm down with that.
