When I saw this movie years ago, I was struck by the eerie similarity between McCallum's character and what John Lennon was like around that time period. Also the irony that this film characterized "that 'awful' beat music that's popular among Liverpool youth"...and how that attitude would change in a few short years!

No no, John Lennon and his band were not even well known back when this film came out! I should know!

I wasn't trying to suggest it was actually based on Lennon...I just found the similarity striking.
