Kirk Douglas' wounded eye

Hi

So, contacts were already invented back then? They must have been a real pain in the ass to wear in those days, what were they made of, glass? Kudos to Kirk.

reply

Duke, check out the documentary in the special features section of the DVD. They do explain that this is a contact insert and it was VERY uncomfortable for Kirk Douglas to wear.

reply

Yeah, and I understand it really pained him to wear that contact lens for more than a few minutes. If it really bothered him that much, I don't understand why he didn't just go on wearing that eye patch for the remainder of the movie. I'm sure it would have been much more comfortable for him.

reply

But didn't look as scary.
