curious.. he was in the background in various scenes of the film.. interesting..

He was introduced as Eric's mute buddy early in the movie, so you expect there'll be some sort of relationship on show as the movie progresses. But then nothing really does occur and as you say. he gradually just disappears from sight.

It was almost as if Richard Fleischer didn't know how to use him.

Possibly he was killed but his death scene (as well as Egbert's) was deleted for pacing reasons.

You could be right, but it is kind of weird how his character just appears to vanish from the film without explanation.

Since they were slaves except for Egbert, they probably stayed in England. I think Aella was killed in battle, so Egbert could return there
