The movie Thunder Road was filmed in and around Asheville, North Carolina.

The building that was the school house is still standing and is now used as a community center. It pretty much looks like it did in the movie except it now has a sign on the side identifying it as a community center.

I'm guessing the interior of the same school building was used as the interior of the church as it looks just like the interior of the community center.

Luke and Robin's home is still standing including the garage that was built special for the movie and the house. Both have been covered in aluminum siding so they look a little different but the area pretty much looks the same.

The building used for Ledbetters store was located about a mile from the homestead but was torn down a long time ago.

The cabin that Luke stays in while his car is being repaired is still standing and is used along with the other 19 cabins surrounding it (that could not be seen in the movie) as tourist cabins throughout much of the year.

The brick building in the background and nearby smokestack in the scene where Luke turns up the street just before he is cornered at the overpass (when escaping from the Speed Shop) is still standing and looks the same.
