After Lucas Doolin crashes through the car block he rolls up at the garage in a very odd looking smashed up car.
I am guessing as a cost/time saver crashed looking material has been dressed over the existing car.
The bonnet appears to be popped up but in perfect order, almost a give away maybe.
To me, it looked just like a car that had smashed through a road block. The '57 Fairlane had a hood that tilted forward, maybe that explains it.
sharehi the scene where mitchum crashes through two cars is done by stuntman. they welded a steel rod on the front of the car . it was wider than the car to smash and flip the other two cars. mitchum got so exited seeing the smashup he sprained his ankle running over to see if stuntman was ok
