aspect ratio on Warner Archive release

The Warner Archive release for Tarzan and the Trappers is widescreen. While watching the film I thought the framing looked off, especially along the bottom. In one scene, Tarzan is running across the savanna and almost completely disappears behind the bottom black bar. Afterwards, I did some research and found that this film was edited together from 3 episodes of a proposed TV series, suggesting the proper aspect ratio is full screen. I know Disney often filmed in open matte, which could be shown widescreen in theaters then full screen on TV, but this did not appear to be the case here. I posted this on the Warner Archive Facebook wall, but they deleted my post after a few days. I think Warner knows the aspect ratio is wrong but won't admit it, probably too much trouble to remaster.

TCM showed TARZAN AND THE TRAPPERS last Saturday...and they showed it in widescreen. I have a Public Domain DVD of the film. The picture isn't nearly as good, but it does clearly show that TCM's version cuts the characters off at the knees, so to speak.

Several scenes in the Public Domain version that feature full body shots of Tarzan (such as the scene when he confronts the bearers about shooting the mother elephant and capturing the baby elephant), cut off Tarzan's image just below the knees in the TCM version.

I've noticed the same thing in TCM'S DVD-R versions of 2 of Scott's other TARZAN films: TARZAN AND THE LOST SAFARI and TARZAN'S FIGHT FOR LIFE.
